Common Causes of Hair Loss
-
Genetics
Hereditary hair loss, like male-pattern or female-pattern baldness, is the most common cause and often starts in your 20s. Early treatment is key to preventing further hair loss.
-
Medical Conditions
Hormonal changes during pregnancy, menopause, or due to conditions like hypothyroidism and PCOS can trigger hair thinning.
-
Medications and Supplements
Certain medications, including those for chemotherapy, depression, and high blood pressure, can cause hair loss as a side effect.
-
Physical or Emotional Stress
Stress from surgery, illness, or emotional challenges can lead to temporary hair loss, although the exact cause is still not fully understood.
-
Poor Nutrition
Nutrient deficiencies, particularly in iron, zinc, and vitamin D, can contribute to hair loss, especially on low-calorie diets.
-
Tight Hairstyles and Hair Treatments
Hairstyles that pull tightly on the hair or frequent use of heat styling tools and chemical treatments can weaken the hair and lead to traction alopecia.
Thinking About Facial Hair?
Hair transplants aren’t just for the scalp! Dr. Moussa can help with thinning facial hair, offering solutions to enhance beard or mustache density. Whether you’re looking to achieve a fuller beard or fill in sparse areas, we’ve got you covered.
Surgical Treatment Services - Hair Transplant
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a modern hair transplantation technique that involves harvesting the grafts gently and carefully one at a time and then meticulously placing them at the correct angle and orientation in the recipient sites. This is the most common technique and is best suited for clients worried about having a linear scar from an FUT procedure, who want to wear their hair short or whose scalp is too tight for strip harvesting. The procedure is usually done in over one day or two days if large number of grafts are needed. FUE in our clinic is done under local anesthesia and with the use of analgesia. Pain is none to slight in most cases. A few of the potential side effects are redness, swelling, temporary numbness on the areas treated among others.
Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)
Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT), also known as strip harvesting, is another hair transplant method where a strip of hair is removed from the scalp and then divided into follicular units that can be implanted in the recipient sites. Dr Moussa will advise you if this procedure is best for you. This procedure is done under local anesthesia and with the use of analgesics.
